About Us

The Gaston Volunteer Fire Department is a dedicated team of local volunteers committed to serving and protecting the community of Gaston, Indiana, and the surrounding areas. Since our founding in 1908, we have worked tirelessly to provide the highest standard of fire and emergency services, ensuring the safety and well-being of our approximately 7,400 residents across 83 square miles.

Our department is composed of 26 highly trained volunteer firefighters and EMTs who bring a deep sense of community pride and responsibility to every call. We are proud to serve our neighbors and collaborate closely with other local agencies to deliver comprehensive emergency services. As a volunteer-driven team, we are deeply rooted in the values of service, dedication, and teamwork.

At the Gaston Volunteer Fire Department, we are committed to continuous training, skill development, and equipping ourselves with the tools needed to meet the challenges of modern emergency response. We prioritize fire prevention education and community outreach, ensuring that our residents are informed, safe, and well-prepared.

Each year, we respond to approximately 800 emergency calls, whether it's a fire, medical emergency, or other critical situation. In addition to emergency response, we engage with the community through fire safety workshops, public events, and outreach programs. Our mission is to make Gaston a safer place to live and to serve with integrity, professionalism, and compassion.

We are honored to serve this community and remain steadfast in our commitment to saving lives and protecting property—no matter the challenge.
