Now Accepting Applications for Volunteer Firefighters and EMS Personnel

The Gaston Volunteer Fire Department is currently seeking dedicated individuals to join our team as Volunteer Firefighters and EMS Personnel. This is an excellent opportunity to serve your community while gaining valuable experience in emergency services.

No previous certifications are required, though they are preferred. We provide comprehensive training to ensure all volunteers are prepared to handle emergency situations effectively and safely.

Requirements:

Minimum age 18 years old
Must be able to pass background check
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
High school diploma (or equivalent)
Willingness to train and ongoing certification
Teamwork and communication skills
Availability for emergency response and training
Commitment to community service and professional conduct

Whether you're just starting out or are an experienced EMS or fire professional, we welcome individuals from all walks of life and skill levels. Here’s what you can expect as part of our team:

Drive the Ambulance: If you're not EMS certified, you can still contribute by driving the ambulance during emergency calls, providing essential support to our EMS teams.
Station Duty: For those who live outside of the immediate Gaston area, we offer the opportunity to perform station duty, ensuring we have a presence and can respond quickly when needed.
EMS Transport Compensation: For non-certified EMTs, we offer $30 per EMS transport and $40 per transport if you're an EMT, recognizing the dedication and skill you bring to the job.
Monthly Training & Meetings: As a member, you'll have access to regular monthly training sessions that help you build your knowledge and stay sharp on the latest techniques. We also hold monthly meetings to keep everyone up to date and engaged in department activities.
Optional Department Events: We believe in building strong bonds within our department, so we organize optional family-style dinners and other social events throughout the month. These events are a great way to get to know your fellow team members and enjoy some time together outside of emergencies.
Community Events: We believe in building strong bonds within our community, so we organize multiple community events a year such as boot drives, pancake breakfasts, events at the Dubry and other social events throughout the year. These events are a great way to get to the community and offer more ways to serve.
